Hillsborough seeks virtual public input on Wilkins Road closure for drainage improvement
Hillsborough County is seeking input from the public on the proposed closure of Wilkins Road near the Tampa Executive Airport. A temporary 90-day road closure of Wilkins Road is necessary to perform work for the Wilkins Road Drainage Improvement Project.
This project is part of the Watershed Drainage Improvements Program. It will reduce flooding by improving stormwater infrastructure as recommended by the Watershed Master Plan Updates.
The closure will affect northbound Wilkins Road, although local traffic for residences will be permitted. Access to Tampa Executive Airport will be detoured east along Eureka Springs Road to Vandenberg Airport Road. It also will affect southbound Wilkins Road. That traffic will be detoured east along Vandenberg Airport Road to Eureka Springs Road.
The roadway operations and safety project is designed to improve transportation mobility and safety. Residents and commercial property owners can visit HCFLGov.net/HCEngage at any time from August 2 through August 16 to learn more about the project and offer comments.
