Tampa Bay Mini-Grant application deadline is Sept. 16th

The deadline to apply for a 2018-19 Tampa Bay Mini-Grant is fast approaching!

The Bay Mini-Grants program supports community-based restoration and education projects focusing on the Tampa Bay Estuary. Empowering citizens through programs such as this helps foster an environmental ethic and promote community stewardship of the bay.

The Bay Mini-Grant program is funded by sales of the Tampa Bay Estuary "Tarpon Tag" specialty license plate. Since the beginning of the program, more than $1,700,000 has gone directly to grant-funded projects.

A guiding objective of the Bay Mini-Grants is to mobilize as many segments of the public as possible. The Tampa Bay Estuary Program therefore encourages applicants to develop proposals in conjunction with clubs and neighborhood associations, business and trade organizations, community and environmental groups, and school districts. Projects or campaigns that have long-term applicability, and that may serve as models for addressing bay issues, will receive priority consideration. Matching funds are not required, but proposals with match are preferred. Grants from $500 to $5,000 are eligible.

New this year are an updated online application form, specific allowable costs for food and travel, elimination of the self-evaluation score sheet and budget categories sheet, and most important — an opportunity to fund one $10,000 hands-on habitat restoration project.
