Pasco County residents invited to celebrate Earth Day
Environmental education event marks Pasco’s 21st Earth Day Celebration
SPRING HILL — Come celebrate Earth Day with Pasco County, April 23rd at Crews Lake Wilderness Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This will be a fun-filled day of events marking Pasco County’s 21st Earth Day Celebration. The event promotes environmental education, encourages volunteerism, and builds commitment toward a greener community.
“This year we added a couple of new things to the event,” said Lottie Kelley, Event Chair for Earth Day. “We’ll have geocaching in the park, along with upcycle vendors selling items such as pallet furniture.”
Some other activities families can take part in include:
- Children’s Crafts and Education displays
- Interactive Water Ventures Learning Lab
- Florida Native Plant sale
- Pet adoptions
- Ladybug release
- Meet "Spike", the 10-foot alligator from Croc Encounters
- Household hazardous waste collection
- Pill take-back program to get rid of expired or unwanted medications
- Document shredding by Shred 360, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. (Limit 5 boxes/bags per person)
- Mercury disposal (Bring old thermostats/thermometers and get a $5 gift card)
- Mary Giella Elementary School PTA food fundraiser
UF|IFAS Extension is also offering two workshops: Rain Water Harvesting Workshop beginning at 10 a.m. and a Composting Workshop at 1 p.m. Pre-registration is required for both workshops. Sign up online. Just click on April and scroll down to the event.
