Register for 7-week “Sustainable Floridians” training by Mar. 18th
Interested in making a difference in the community, exploring green practices and meeting people with similar interests? Pinellas County Extension is hosting a seven-week discussion-to-action course this spring on green strategies and behaviors. Registration is open until Friday, March 18.
The mandatory orientation session is on Saturday, April 2, at 9 a.m. The class will meet every other Saturday, April 2 to May 14, from 9 a.m. to noon.
This certificate training will guide participants to make wise use of resources, make households and communities more resilient and financially sound, learn about community leadership and understand the impact of individual lifestyle choices on the environment.
The program will be held at Weedon Island Preserve in St. Petersburg and is a combination of in-class and online sessions. The cost for the program is $75. Pre-registration is required.
On weeks without face-to-face meetings, participants will be given access to a webinar covering a new module.

- Week 2, April 3 to April 10 – Consumerism (Webinar)
- Week 3, April 16 – Energy
- Week 4, April 17 to April 24 – Food Systems (Webinar)
- Week 5, April 30 – Water
- Week 6, May 1 to May 8 – Climate Change (Webinar)
- Week 7, May 14 – Mandatory Community Leadership
Participants must complete at least six modules to receive a certificate of completion for this course. The first meeting on April 2 and final meeting on May 14 are mandatory in order to receive the certificate of completion.
Rain barrels are available for pre-order at a discounted rate of $22.09 to accompany the April 30 module.
