County seeks public input for proposed Warner's Bayou renovations
Third public workshop scheduled for July 11 to ask boaters, residents which amenities they favor at the popular boat ramp
Local residents, boaters, fishing enthusiasts and environmental supporters are invited to a third public workshop to discuss proposed renovations to Warner’s Bayou boat launch on July 11.
The workshop will be held at Palma Sola Elementary School cafeteria, 6806 5th Ave NW, Bradenton. The meeting is open to the public and it will begin at 6 p.m. with a staff presentation that covers a new proposed plan that’s based on public comments earlier this year.
The new proposed plan includes the following highlights:
The parking lot will not be paved and remain in its current condition , with the addition of grassed storm water runoff treatment areas added around the perimeter of the existing parking lots. Also, two ADA accessible, paved vehicular parking spaces will be created to replace two regular vehicular spaces located close to the existing ramp;
No proposed pavilions;
A new restroom building on the north side of the ramp;
A new fish cleaning station attached to the restroom building.
Additional details will be discussed during the July 11 meeting. There are no plans for vendors at the site and there will not be 24-hour access to a proposed new restroom.
Manatee County officials decided to postpone until at least Labor Day, 2012 any proposed repairs and improvements to Warner’s Bayou boat ramp. The ramp was scheduled to be closed for repair and upgrades in March, but many residents near the popular boat launch asked to have more input. County officials and staff met with concerned residents at the launch in March and again at Palma Sola Elementary School in April to ask for their feedback for the park.
